Help: Article Image
The Article Image page allows you to view the full text of the article in British Periodicals, navigate through the article, and access the previous and next articles in that journal issue.
Navigating Articles
To navigate through the article, click the page numbers which appear above the page image. If you have performed a keyword search, the pages which contain your search terms are indicated in the page navigation by red arrows. You can also use the Previous page / Next page links which display above and below the page image to navigate through the article.
To navigate to a different article, click the Previous article / Next article links which display above and below the page image.
Hit highlighting
If you have performed a keyword search in article full text, your search terms will appear highlighted with a yellow background in the page image.
Download page as JPEG (Grayscale)
To view or save a copy of the current page as a high quality JPEG image, click the Download page as JPEG (Grayscale) link. A dialog box will open giving you the option to open the file or save it to a location of your choice.
View Article as PDF (Grayscale/B&W)
To view or save a copy of the article in PDF format, click the View Article as PDF link.
You can choose to view a grayscale or black and white version of the PDF by selecting the relevant image option; the black and white version is a smaller file for faster download but the image quality is lower.
You can also choose whether to view the whole article, or certain pages only by using the Page Range input box (the total number of pages appears by default). You can select a range from the article's pages by entering the start and finish of the section as numbers separated by a hyphen. You can also mix individual pages with page ranges, for example, 1,3,5-12. Once you have defined the section of pages to view, click the View article as PDF button.
A new Adobe Acrobat window will open containing your selected pages. You can use the functionality in the Adobe Acrobat window to save, print, zoom etc. The original British Periodicals window will remain open in the background, and will return to the Article Image page. Close the Adobe Acrobat window when you have completed your task.
Note: it is strongly recommended that you have the latest version of Adobe Reader installed on your computer (Download the latest version of Adobe Reader).
